Extending data collection out into the warehouse is achieved using the latest mobile “Pocket PC” Technologies. Qsys offers a suit of mobile applications that makes tracking of a pallet or carton very easy to achieve.

Various modules have been created to aid users in carrying out day to day warehouse management tasks such as the creation of bonded pallets or cartons or tracking the movement of pallets/cartons across multiple warehouse locations.

A typical situation might be: As products arrive at goods inward, common goods are loaded onto pallets or suitable storage containers. At this point a serial number (bar-coded label) is attached to the storage unit. In the case of a pallet, the pallet is shrink-wrapped and the label attached to the outside. Using Qsys Pocket PC goods inward application, the quantities and the products metrics are recorded and the pallet/container, being now sealed, is treated as bonded. From this point the contents of the pallet can be determined by the serial number recorded against the pallet.

The pallet can now be moved into the warehouse and its current location is recorded using the Qsys Pallet Tracker application. The pallet can be split and rebuilt if the bond is broken, recording the changes through the pallet creator or adjuster application. The Qsys Pallet Audit application removes the need to count the items contained on/in each bonded storage unit. As the pallet is sealed, one scan is all that is required to confirm its existence and current location, thus reducing the need for costly stock takes.
